Report Made on January 21, 2012
With Sam Woodman, Chris Ostermann, Tom, myself, and 4 eager high school kids we broke up most of the block wall sections brought down last year at 417 Robertson removing all the rebar, and pulled down 2 more wall sections. The block is very soft but the grout around rebar is tough requiring a lot of sledge hammering. Good upper body work and aggression release. Chris digs pulling walls down. I have an old circular saw with a steel cutting abrasive blade which makes quick work of the rebar once exposed. We have a functional restroom and electric power at the warehouse; if we rent a powerful electric demolition hammer to expose the vertical rebar when the bike and build crew arrives we should get the rest of the walls down readily. If the crew has some Sam Woodman like guys we might not need the hammer.
