Habitat for Humanity of the Indian Wells Valley
Ridgecrest, California

Family Selection Income Guidelines

The income limits used by the family Selection Committee are based on the following:

  1. Guidance provided in the Habitat for Humanity International Family Selection Operations Manual
  2. Information contained in the Profile of General Demographic Characteristics: Census 2000 from the U.S. Census Bureau
  3. Information contained in a "Memorandum for Interested Parties," dated April 2001 from the california department of Housing and Community Development

The Habitat for Humanity IWV income window of service is 25% to 50% of the median income of the Indian Wells Valley. However, the Census 2000 data is provided individually for Ridgecrest, China Lake Acres, and Inyokern. To allow reaching the greatest number of families, the highest Ridgecrest median income is used to set the upper income limit and the China Lake Acres lowest median income is used to set the lower income limit. The median income guideline range (25% to 50%) sets the upper and lower guidelines for a family of four. The income range is then adjusted for smaller and larger family sized based on CA/HUD guidelines.
