Welcome Camplighters. Habitat IWV again welcomes 14 members of the Camplighters RV team from southern California. Under the leadership of Chuck and Barbara Wolfe, these enthusiastic volunteers generously donate their time and energy to help build Habitat homes for local IWV families. Among other construction tasks, Camplighters are helping with exterior painting, wallboard installation, and roofing. Thank you, Camplighters. We hope to see you again next year.

Four New Partner Families Chosen. Four new families have qualified and been invited by the Board of Directors to partner with Habitat for Humanity IWV in helping to build the homes of other partner families, their own homes, attend homeowner classes, and contribute in various other ways to fulfill the HFHIWV mission. These four families have begun working on completing their 500 hours of sweat equity by working at the 1224 Boston construction site. A dinner at Victory Baptist Church was held to introduce the families to each other and to the Habitat IWV volunteer community (dinner photos).

Volunteer Spotlight: Barbara Manning

I've volunteered for Habitat for Humanity IWV since 2000 and have been the Chair of the Family Support Committee, on the Fundraising Committee, the Church Relations Committee, on the Board of Directors for six years and was the President for two years. I am currently the Executive Director. Habitat keeps me here because I believe in what we do and some of the nicest people in Ridgecrest are Habitat for Humanity volunteers.

I am a native Californian who was born in Fresno a long, long time ago. I graduated from Madera Union High School and took some college classes at Sacramento State College and Cerro Coso Community College. I went to work at The Naval Weapons Center in 1972 and retired from The Naval Air Warfare Center in 1999. I started as a Clerk/Typist and ended as a Management Analyst.

I have two adult children and one grandson who live here in Ridgecrest. For fun, I belong to the Ridgecrest Sister City Association and have visited our sister city in Mexico about 12 times. I also volunteer at the Information Desk at City Hall. I work part-time at the Body and Bath Boutique.
